A warm, gentle tank
Rabbit snails come from warm lakes and do best in a calm tank of 10 gallons or more. Avoid fish that pick at snails.
Feeding
They are hungry grazers. Feed sinking pellets, algae wafers and blanched vegetables several times a week, more if there is little algae.
Shell care
Hard water and calcium keep their long shells strong. Small erosion at the tip is common and not dangerous if water is stable.
Questions
Do rabbit snails eat plants?
They can nibble soft plants when hungry. Regular feeding keeps them on leftovers and algae.
How fast do they breed?
Slowly. A female drops a single baby every few weeks, so they will not overrun a tank.
